The Great Victorian Bike Ride is an annual 9 day ride that has a different location in Victoria every year. It is a challenging, but rewarding and enjoyable way to get fit, or just get out and have fun. I did it a couple of years ago and it was a great experience, not only is it good for your fitness, it is always set in a picturesque setting.
This year the ride travels along the Great Ocean Road. Starting in Portland, the Ride travels out and back to Cape Bridgewater, before heading to Macarthur, down to Port Fairy, along the Great Ocean Road to Port Campbell and Apollo Bay where it stops for a rest day. A road closure gets riders from Apollo bay to Anglesea along the ocean road, then onto a final night party in Queenscliff, before finishing in Geelong. A total distance of 550 kilometres over the nine days.
